Peanut/Nut Free Products At Chapman's Ice Cream, we are very aware of the increase in the food based allergic reactions, especially to peanut and nut base products, so we’ve made it our goal to put the “Peanut/Nut Free” symbol on many of our products. All new employees, as well as any contractors that may be working in the plant, are educated and made aware of our nut free environment. Lunchrooms are nut free and our lab technicians are ever vigilant to identify and control risks. Every batch used on our nut free lines is tested and all finished product is tested for traces of peanut protein prior to its release. In 2003, Chapman's was recognized by Anaphylaxis Canada for our “red flag” labeling on Peanut/Nut Free ice cream and novelties. Chapman's was awarded the "Susan Daglish Award" for their leadership and commitment to anaphylaxis safety and helping people to live with deadly allergies. Not all of our products are “Peanut/Nut Free” so look for the red flag to be sure.
Gluten Free Products It is estimated that about 1 in 250 Canadians may suffer from some form of celiac allergy or the intolerance of gluten in their diet. Gluten is the protein found in grains such as wheat, barley, oats and rye. Chapman’s is proud of the fact that all our Original ice cream products in 2L and 4L line sizes are now gluten free so that the kid in all of us can enjoy a worry-free bowl of delicious ice cream. Look for the Gluten Free symbol.
Yogurt Plus Yogurt Plus is an incredibly delicious and healthy offering of naturally flavoured frozen yogurt. With two active probiotic cultures (Lactobacillus Acidophilus and Bifidobacterium Lactis), and a natural source of prebiotic fibre (Inulin), this is a first for frozen yogurt in Canada.
Probiotics are friendly bacteria that help balance gut microflora and support the immune system. Daily consumption contributes to maintaining digestive health.
Prebiotic (Inulin) is a soluble dietary fibre, which is not digested in the stomach or small intestine and reaches the large intestine intact. It stimulates the growth of bifidobacterium (friendly bacteria) thereby contributing to maintaining digestive health.
Eaten on a daily basis, probiotics and prebiotics act together to optimize digestive health, contributing to overall health.
Lactose Free Products Chapman’s has developed lactose free products so those who are lactose intolerant are free to indulge. Our Sorbet line of products as well as our Fruit-flavoured SuperLollies are all fat-free, cholesterol-free and lactose-free. We are also making a line of lactose-free ice cream products. The ice cream mix is treated with an enzyme (Lactase) before production and packaging. It breaks down lactose making the ice cream preferable to those who are lactose intolerant. While 11% fat by weight, these products are 99.9% lactose reduced, so enjoy with confidence!
No Sugar Added Products Chapman’s No Sugar Added line of ice cream products was specifically developed to meet the needs of people on sugar-restricted and low-carb diets. Sweetened with Maltitol and Sucralose, they are recognized by the Canadian Diabetes Association.
Light Products As Canadians become increasingly proactive about controlling their fat intake and moving towards a healthier diet, Chapman’s has responded by producing a line of Simply Light ice cream which is naturally flavoured and contains fewer calories and 40 to 60 % less fat than regular ice cream. Lower fat – all of the flavour.
Quality Milk Products The Quality Milk logo was created by the Dairy Farmers of Canada. The logo was designed to authenticate dairy products or dairy-based products made exclusively from 100% Canadian cow's milk.
Chapman's has proudly included the logo on selected products generating a great connection between a Canadian company and a Canadian organization.
